SPS® – PERFORMANCE CATAPULTS JOIN THE MAG!

OFFICIALLY LICENSED METAL CORE SLINGSHOT – REGISTERED US PATENT NO. 8794223

YESS!!!! A true Slingshot legend has thrown their weight behind Slingshot World magazine. Mr. Jim Harris, the one man powerhouse of slingshot design and manufacture from Kentucky is PERFORMANCE CATAPULTS and has a sales website here: https://www.performancecatapults.com/ and a far better fettled and just about four thousand strong beloved-followers page on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/Performancecatapults/

This is the man who designed the SPS®. A shape of slingshot so universally bloody brilliant that it became a cult item that was the shape you needed to win the tournament back in the early days. A shape so ubiquitously copied that not even the likes of Nathan Masters’ Simple Shot designs, that are ruinously cheaply backwards engineered in China, could feel as badly abused! Everybody makes an SPS. (CONFESSION: I own a £200 Taylor’s Catapults SPS called ‘FMJ#2′ or Full Metal Jacket No.2. I treasure it, yet am darn tootin’ certain that young Taylor never asked Jim!)

Yep, slingshot designs are shamelessly copied by makers.

Indeed, many of you, like me, may have not even have known the man’s name, because SPS has been written without the ‘registered design’ mark® like that by so many other makers. Blokes from Asa Wilson sideways have been pirated in Indonesia, or even here by a shameless git who finds it hilarious, commercially but the sheer number of customs and single builds called SPS in the single-maker copy market is legion.

So for the record. SPS® is a registered design. It is JIM HARRIS and that metal core build was his original makers’ ‘thing’ with the SPS® shape being his first registered design. He is working on another…. and with luck, that may well be the scoop of the issue!

We are awfully excited to have Performance Catapults on board and will be going into some detail about this classic of classics in issue three of Slingshot World magazine as well as……

Issue one and two, as a collectible, building reference of information, are still very much available here: https://slingshot-world.ecwid.com/ and issue two has a choice of 25x8mm or 9.5mm steel balls or a SightRight Card as a free cover mount gift. I CANNOT post steel balls airmail, though, sorry!
