With deep August Awesomeness, Lee Harrison, the superstar organiser of the West Kent Catapult Club announces a one day slingshot tournament event in association with the UK Slingshot Association. It’s the 30th August 2026 and called the UKSA SOUTH SUMMER DAY CONTEST.
With high end metal trophies for the Knockdown and Step Back events and beautiful glass crystal trophies for the main event classes of Pro and Semi Pro. There’s also a cool participation medal for the juniors. Just being there is going to be cool. Cooler than in the sun, under the trees, for sure!
There is a good choice of events to take part in, and best of all, just seeing others, and how they shoot, is always an education. Nobody cares if you are not a gnat’s-bollock-accurate shot, they will just welcome you. Somehow, videos on YouTube just don’t have the usefulness of seeing good shots in real life. You decide what you need to study and can ask the participants for advice. The organisers are always keen to encourage new blood into the sport. I recall my first one.. I enjoy going, just for the craic, to be honest.
There’s a forty target practice course as well as the forty target competition course. There’s a 10m Knockdown event and they have three sets of fancy knockdown targets. They will also be running a ‘Step Back’ where the distance is progressively extended until one opponent misses.
Juniors count as under 15, and the cost is £20 for adults, £10 for Juniors.

August Awesomeness means a day of serious fun. But as it is a woodland and not a park with a cafe, do take stuff to eat.. and LOTS of fluids. (By the way, beer leaves you dehydrated, after peeeing out more than you drink! Also, it’s banned on all courses.)
