And he must have been doing something right as he has been recognised for what he does.(Ed.)

I wanted to share this with you, for a few reasons. Firstly I’m incredibly proud of this and secondly to hopefully help other groups clubs or organisations in their areas who are helping push our sport out of the negative and into the positive.
I found out in October I had been nominated for Citizen of the year for the work we do in the community with our charity. Which was absolutely amazing and I was really taken aback by it .
In November I found out I was shortlisted by a judging panel.
And then in December I was contacted and told I was a finalist and asked to attend an awards ceremony in January which I couldn’t quite believe.

Well, today was that award ceremony and I came runner up, which I am over the moon with . But what I am more proud of is the write up and recognition our catapult club BLITZ CATAPULT CLUB and the support that was shown . Below is the write up of what was said today .

Three Years of Positive Impact

“What began as a simple idea within Flourishing Faifley’s men’s group, has grown into something truly special. Over the past three years, Blitz Catapult Club has become a welcoming, inclusive space where people from across West Dunbartonshire can come together, learn new skills, and support their mental health and wellbeing through a shared passion for marksmanship.

The club was born organically, from an interest in craftsmanship and skill-building. Catapulting quickly captured imaginations, with members taking real pride in learning techniques, creating their own equipment, and developing accuracy and focus. Recognising the value of this interest, Tony Ercoli supported the group to grow into an open, community-based club — one that promotes responsibility, respect, and positive engagement.

Since then, Blitz Catapult Club has worked hard to set the highest standards. The club operates in a safe, responsible, and respectable manner, earning the trust and backing of local councillors, MPs, and community leaders. This support reflects the way the club conducts itself — with clear values, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to being a positive force in the community.

Beyond the sport itself, the impact has been profound. Members regularly speak about improved confidence, reduced isolation, better mental health, and the importance of having something purposeful to look forward to. Friendships have formed, skills have grown, and people have been empowered to better themselves — outcomes that sit at the very heart of Flourishing Faifley’s ethos.

Blitz Catapult Club is a powerful example of what can happen when community-led ideas are nurtured properly: a simple activity transformed into a respected club that promotes wellbeing, skill, and connection. We’re incredibly proud of how far it has come — and excited for what the future holds.”

I am incredibly proud of seeing our club held in such high regard and just wanted to share this with you and hope this gives the guys fighting for what we stand for all over the UK motivation to keep going, even when you think that it’s an uphill battle sometimes .
